THE FORGETFUL POET

The Forgetful Poet handed me his verses headed by the above.
Never heard of such a thing - did you? Ah, well, we must excuse the dear fellow.
It is hard to keep one's headpiece working this hot weather.
Gnipmac
The joys of camping often
Have been highly praised to me,
But I'm afraid that in the woods
I'd take root like a ------,
And then, you know, the insects
Get so personal; the ants
Mix with the food - and burrs and briars
Tear up one's coat and ------.
The skeeters do their little bit
Or bites - 'm far too old
For roughing it, besides I always
Catch a grippy ------.
(Poor thing.)
